The Brain as a Dynamic System: The Mind/Body Relationship

This three hour Continuing Education (CE) workshop will cover recent advances in evaluation and therapeutic interventions with a special focus on attention/mood pathways from the brainstem to the cortex. Discussion will include defining key concepts of the brain as a dynamic system of cellular and behavioral connections. Topics will also include therapeutic strategies targeting whole-brain, whole-person well-being utilizing an interdisciplinary collaborative focus. The presentation will also include discussing the role of stress hormones and glucocorticoids on systemic brain function and will help develop an understanding of how the brain learns beyond genes, illness, and injury, with a focus on modification of genetic hardwiring and environmental cues.
