In January 2001, Dr. Chris Higgins, a licensed clinical psychologist, started Palos Behavioral Health Professionals (PBHP). Dr. Higgins always believed that mental health well-being was a multi-faceted task. It takes more than just medication to ease the pain of depression, anxiety, or any other mental health ailment. PBHP started as a way to not only increase communication between the psychologist and the psychiatrist but also provide a place where all aspects of the human situation could be acknowledged. PBHP creates a unique environment to improve the quality of mental health. Active communication between the behavioral health team is maintained through providing individual, family, and group therapy, psychological testing, neurofeedback therapy, and Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) along with medication management, if needed.
Now in its 12th year, PBHP employs 4 psychiatrists and 8 Licensed Clinical Psychologists, 4 Licensed Clinical Professional Counselors, 3 Post-Doctoral Therapists and 4 Pre-Doctoral Interns. In an effort to bring the most innovative approaches to mental health care, PBHP constantly strives to bring new ideas to the therapy process. Our resources guide clients to succeed through positive-oriented treatments that identify and build upon personal strengths.
